We were introduced to washlets while visiting Japan, and recently got one for our home. It quickly became so popular with our family that we got a second unit shortly afterward! A lot has been said about these wonderful devices, so I'll try not to repeat what's in other reviews, and offer my perspective instead. Now that we're used to washlet, I can't imagine going back to the old ways!
* It takes some minor changes to get the most out of the washlet. One has to adjust seating posture, scooting a bit farther back than usual. One may also have to shift side to side a bit, to get the most benefit from cleaning action. It's well worth making these easy adjustments -- the reward is a hygienic & hands-free clean!
* This thing is very useful for kids. Toto really should market it as a kid-friendly device. Kids were not interested at first, but they tried it and within a couple of days, they became huge fans! They love the hands-free clean, and for parents it's great knowing that kids are always being well cleaned (kids aren't always very good at using toilet paper....). It's very easy to use the big buttons, and they can hold the wireless remote in their little hands.
* Electrical: As others have pointed out this unit requires an electrical outlet very near toilet, something that most North American homes don't have. Wanting to know how many Amps this thing actually uses I took some measurements using a Kill-A-Watt P3 meter: Startup - about 10.8 Amps for a few seconds; Deodorizer - about 0.1 Amp; Seat heater + deodorizer - about 0.48 Amp; Cleansing with water heater - 8.45 Amps to 10.5 Amps; Dryer - about 1.85 Amps. All these at 122V line voltage. Your mileage may vary, of course.
Toto recommends a grounded outlet on a dedicated 15 Amp circuit. Based on my measurements, I decided to share a 20 Amp circuit to avoid the cost of running a new circuit, leaving about 9 Amps for other devices when washlet is running cleansing cycle (a minute or two), and 15 Amps+ at other times. I DON'T recommend you do this though, unless you have the required electrical expertise & tools and know the condition of your wiring.
* Deodorizer: This is a non-obvious feature, and is perhaps the most amazing part of the washlet S300! It's like magic -- captures foul-smelling air at the 'source' via small fan, removes odors, and releases smell-free air back into bathroom. It really works (gets rid of smells better than an exhaust fan), and doesn't require much, if any, maintenance! Being a skeptic I didn't believe these claims and assumed this must be some sort of activated charcoal filter -- similar to those in canister respirator masks, they require frequent replacement. I was wrong, it turns out Toto has invented an entirely new method to chemically remove the odor-causing substances using a catalyst, and have built this catalytic converter into washlet. They've filed US & European patents on this technology:[...]
If you're interested in how it works and have a chemistry background, the patent is worth reading. Now I can't be sure that this amazing piece of technology is exactly what's in the S300, but it sure sounds similar.

Great product, must for everyone concerned with hygiene I have both Toto Washlet 400 and just got 110 for another toilet. Very pleased with the product. Less options and no dryer, but certainly does the job.

The best purchase I have made in a long time I bought this because I had been exposed to similar models in hotels in Japan, found that they relegated the old fashion way to the stone age, and had been looking for one since. The price was right, and I am extremely satisfied with the quality as well.
Be very sure you pick the right size - round or elongated.
The documentation, in 4 languages, is extremely complete and well done.
Assembly took 20 minutes. Couple of things to pay attention to: 1 get a flexible water supply for replacement - longer is better to avoid pinching 2 make sure you don rip the cardboard stencil attached to the plastic base with screws; its critical to position the base correctly; only when all is done should you remove it.
Electrics: you need a power socket with ground within less than 2 feet of the right side of the seat; in all likelihood you will need it installed by a professional electrician, factor the cost in. Don use a cable extender. Also, the documentation mentions the seat should not be used in a very humid room. You may need to use a fan/extractor in the room if its also used as shower.
Usage:
- I bought it mostly for me, but the ladies in the house while officially saying its weird have essentially taken over that bathroom, which now has a Ladies sign on the door. I guess I may need a second one if I want to use it.
- If men get close to it, they may want to be gentlemen and seat down in all cases. The target is considerably reduced in size and risks of spillage have increased. While taking the device apart for cleaning is easy, I don suggest spilling too much liquid on it. Also, Toto advises against use toilet paper to wipe it could damage it they state.
- Pressure is a bit on the high side out of the box; we run it at one of the lowest settings
- The energy savings mode works, but is not intuitive
- No drying on this inexpensive model; this does not appear critical for now

Quality product We were looking to replace our old Bidet, a Nais which we loved but developed a leak after five years. Nais no longer distributes in the U.S. so we were forced to shop around. We tried the Luxe Bidet EB800 and the Bio Bidet BB-800 Prestige Bidet With Turbo Wash, both of which we returned mainly because their sprays were weak and their nozzle was poorly placed. The Bio Bidet wouldn recognize we were on the seat half the time. Both brands were generally poor quality and much inferior to our old Nais.
So we bought this TOTO SW524-01 and it is fantastic. Everything works perfectly. It is designed well, and is of the highest quality. The spray is strong on the higher settings and the nozzle is perfectly placed. Its better than the old Nais we replaced in a number of ways:
1 You can raise the seat. Ive not seen this before in the electronic bidets Ive used. Sometimes men want to pee like men ;-
2 The spray nozzle is quite sturdy. I suspect I created a leak in our old Nais while cleaning its flimsy nozzle. This looks much less likely to occur with the thick Toto nozzle.
3 The spray nozzle is self-cleaning. Most electronic bidets have this these days but our old Nais did not. The self cleaning mechanism could be stronger and more thorough but its not bad.
4 The tank holds more water than our old Nais, meaning it takes much longer before we run out of heated water.
Of course the Toto has a bunch of other feature that other brands have: heated water, heated seat, power saving modes, ... etc. All the brands Ive tried seem to implement these well. The Toto doesn have a drier, but I found that a gimmick in other brands, never really useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Potty heaven We got our original washlet from toto as part of our showroom package at our bath remodel company. We nearly threw it away because it seemed like such an unlikely product. After sitting in the warehouse for months we decided to install it just to see what it was like. After years of use we have had our original unit repaired once and bought a second so we wouldn have to be without while waiting on the repair. I find myself waiting to go to the bathroom until I get home. If I could take my potty on vacation I would. There is just nothing like a fresh shower clean feeling after going to the bathroom. Note: Most people get embarrassed or amused if the washlet comes up in the conversation but if they actually buy one they end up wanting to take it on vacation just like I do.

First Washlet love it toto is top quality My wife and I have had our c110 washlet for about a month now and really like it. After first discovering washlets on my travels to Japan and Korea I found out that Toto had opened a US facility. Although very new here in the US they are quite common in Japan and Korea. This unit arrived nicely packaged and took about 45 minutes to install. This washlet was very easy to install just requiring a few simple tools. I chose Toto because they have a great reputation and make top quality washlets. This unit is high quality and made in the USA. The seat temp is plenty warm as well as the water temperature. Theres also plenty of water pressure. Controls are very easy to use and nicely laid out. Love my washlet I have been using Japanese-style washlets for years. "Washlet" is the Japanese contraction for "washing toilet". They are basically electric bidets built in to toilet seats. (If I have to explain what a bidet is you probably arent interested in one anyway.)
This bottom-of-the-line model from Toto works great. Its easy to hook up and easy to use. It cleans the "hopper" on your "personal garbage chute" much better than TP alone can.
If you have roids. (Not the body-building kind.) Or when Montezuma has loosed his revenge upon your soul (and gastro-intestinal tract) you will thank whatever it is you pray to that you have one of these to ease your pain discomfort and/or mess.
